Jaw Reconstruction

After trauma, tumor resection or infection, reconstruction aims to restore the jaw’s functional and esthetic integrity. Prof. Dr. Altan VAROL combines free‑tissue transfer, vascularized bone grafts (e.g., fibula), titanium reconstruction plates and microsurgery as needed.

Planning may include 3D imaging, virtual surgery and patient‑specific guides. Donor site selection, vascular mapping and integration with prosthetic rehab are crucial for long‑term success. Post‑op infection prophylaxis, nutrition and controlled rehab of speech/chewing are important.

The aim is to bring back natural facial contours and function in balance. Communication, realistic expectations and scheduled controls keep the process safe and predictable.
